Valeo Thermal Systems is one of of Valeo’s four Business Groups. The strategic objectives of the Thermal Systems Business Group are three-fold: reduce harmful emissions from vehicles with internal combustion engines, increase driving range  and battery life for hybrid and electric vehicles, and promote passenger health and well-being.

ValeoThermal Systemsis represented in the Selfie-project by its research and development center (VLV) in France and its affiliate Valeo Climate Control (VCC) in Germany. Jointly both entities will provide solutions for the thermal anagement of the electric vehicle with respect to cabin, powertrain and battery.

Role in the project:

  • Valeo Thermal Systems will provide
    • a battery cooler designed to meet ultra-fast charging requirements,
    • a cold storage system capable of maintaining the cabin comfort while fast charging the battery,
    • a special front end cooling module to increase the air flow,
    • and a heat buffer, based on Phase Change Material, that will temporarily increase the performance while fast charging.
  •  Valeo Climate Control is responsible
    • for design and integration of these innovative components into the thermal management system,
    • system tests, control and commissioning in the test vehicle.
